Here are the instructions on how to create an .ONPreset file to package together presets and extras (Textures & Borders):
ON1 Photo (version 10)
First you will want to access your created presets. To do this, open ON1 Effects and then go to Preset > Show Presets Folder. This will display all of the categories and preset you will use for packaging your presets together. This is where you will access and copy the presets to use in the steps below.
If you are adding your own textures or borders to your presets (not including the pre-installed presets that ship with ON1 Photo) then you will also need to locate those textures on your hard-drive and make sure that they are named identically and contained within the same category folder as the textures/borders in your presets.
- Organize your files in the following order (folders you name yourself are designated in blue; bold items must be listed verbatim):
Nicolesy Test Preset Pack
> Presets
>> Nicolesy Test Presets (this is the name of the preset category that will show in Effects)
>>> Preset 1.ONEffects (Note: Name the presets whatever you like)
>>> Preset 2.ONEffects
Textures
> Nicolesy Test Textures
>> Large (these are the full-size texture files)
>>> Texture 1.jpg (Note: Name the textures whatever you like)
>>> Texture 2.jpg
>> Small (these are smaller versions of the same textures, 512px-wide)
>>> Texture 1.jpg
>>> Texture 2.jpg
Borders
> Nicolesy Test Borders
>> Large (these are the full-size texture files)
>>> Border 1.png (Note: Name the borders whatever you like)
>>> Border 2.png
>> Small (these are smaller versions of the same textures, 512px-wide)
>>> Border 1.png
>>> Border 2.png
Here is a photo representation of this setup: - Next, zip the main top-level folder. On my Mac, I use Yemuzip and make sure to zip it to the PC format.
- Then, change the .zip to .ONPreset and the file icon will change to an ON1 Photo file.
- To import this file into ON1 Photo, drag-drop it over the open application window (make sure that Browse is the active module).
ON1 Photo RAW
ON1 Photo RAW stores presets differently than previous versions. Instead of pulling them from an easy-to-access Presets folder, instead they need to be pulled from the Application folder. On a Mac this is in the following location (please check with ON1 for this location on a Windows machine):
user/Library/Application Support/ON1/ON1 Photo RAW 2017/Presets
- As you can see, the preset names are not visible in the .onp filename, so you will be unable to locate your presets easily. Here are a few ways to locate the presets you would like to save:
- If you have created the presets recently, then you can sort the .onp files by date and pull the most recent files.
- If you have a small amount of presets you wish to save (10–20), then you can go into the Effects module, access the presets, and then right-click over the preset and choose "Export preset". At the time of writing this, presets can only be exported one at a time. THEN, after exporting, you must re-import the presets and then locate them in the location listed above. You will know it is the correct preset because it will not have a "friendly" filename. Note: This step is only so that you can locate the files by date in the /Users/username/Library/Application Support/ON1/ON1 Photo RAW 2017/Presets location.
- If you would like to package ON1 Photo 10 presets for use in ON1 Photo RAW, then first import the presets (Settings > Import Preset...), and then locate the Library file from above to find the most recently-added presets (sort the presets by date).
- Then, to package your presets, use the following method:
Nicolesy Test Preset Pack
> Raw Presets
>> preset1.onp (Note: Do not rename these presets from their original filenames)
>> preset2.onp - Next, zip the main top-level folder.
Note: As of writing this article, you will want to package textures and borders separately for ON1 Photo RAW (without the .onp preset files) and import them first.
